Early Life and Education

Born in 1981 to Delhi University professors Vijay Singh and Tripta Wahi, Atishi completed her schooling at Springdales School in New Delhi. She graduated with a First Class First in History from St. Stephen's College, Delhi in 2001. However, in the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, Atishi won the Kalkaji constituency, defeating her opponent by over 11,000 votes.

Education Reforms

Atishi is best known for her approach to education reform in Delhi's public school system. As the Education Minister in the Delhi government, she introduced the "Mission Buniyaad" program aimed at enhancing the learning literacy and numerical competencies of students. Atishi also implemented new curricula such as the 'Happiness Curriculum' and the 'Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum' to holistically develop students' skills and well-being.

Transition to Chief Minister

On September 17, 2024, Atishi was elected as the new Chief Minister of Delhi after Arvind Kejriwal resigned for legal reasons. She has taken a leading role within the party during this transition and is expected to continue the government's focus on education and public welfare until the next elections.
